The Blood Bath
The Blood Bath serves
as an official ordination for sect leaders,
confirming spiritually the political appointment in
question. All Sabbat able to attend the Blood Bath
of one of their leaders will do so unless they wish
to make a statement of objection against the
officer; of course, doing so is a public slight and
is both suspicious and dangerous.
During the Blood Bath, the attending Sabbat, led by
the presiding priest and moving in order of
descending authority, kneel before the new officer
offering pledges of faith in the leader's skill or
worth. Sometimes gifts may be given, but these are a
private matter and not a part of the ritual. The
officer will then reply with words of praise or
advice for the Sabbat member. Next, the Sabbat
member will place his or her blood in a common
vessel. Once all attending Sabbat have give their
pledge and their blood, the new officer then bathes
in the common blood, after which all Sabbat present
drink from the shared blood. Sometimes this is
consecrated as a Vaulderie, but such is not
mandatory.
The Sabbat, The Camarilla, and the Anarchs are fictional sects of vampires,
from White Wolf Game Studio's Vampire: The Masquerade books and role-playing games.
