War Party
Embodying the spirit of
the violent and energetic nights of the AnArch
Revolt, the War Party is a consecrated mass hunt for
the blood of a non-Sabbat elder too powerful for any
one Sabbat or pack to combat. In keeping with the
spirit of healthy competition, the participating
packs are free to use subtle and non-violent tactics
to sabotage their rivals. The War Party ends when
one member finally drags down the elder and consumes
its soul.
The War Party begins when a Sabbat officer of Bishop
or higher rank identifies a non-Sabbat elder to be
destroyed and calls for their blood. Most War
Parties are proceeded by a Fire Dance, a Sermon of
Caine and a Blood Feast or Vaulderie (large and
difficult War Parties include all, while smaller
ones may require less preparation). The leader of
the War Party (generally the highest ranking priest,
although some more politically-oriented War Parties
may be led by powerful Ducti or Bishops) calls to
the assembled packs and asks, 'Do you come freely to
war, and do you take up this noble cause, never
resting until the blood of our enemy is spilled?'
Each participating Ductus replies 'We do!' cementing
her and her pack's commitment to the hunt. At this
point, the leader of the Party gives the identity of
the target and any useful intelligence (at this
point backing down from the rite is seen as
cowardice and viewed with scorn by the sect. The
participants revel for the remainder of the evening,
rising the next evening to depart on the hunt.
If included, the Fire Dance, Sermons the Caine,
Blood Feast and Vaulderie are run as normal. In
addition, the winning pack receives the status of
Martial until the next War Party, Palla Grande, or
Festivo.
