Wild Hunt
The Sabbat is a secret
society of the highest order, united in its secrets,
rituals and mysteries. Above all the sect must
maintain security not merely over its political and
military plans, but over its religious doctrine and
practices as well. Should a member of the Sabbat
betray sect secrets, all Sabbat are called to hunt
down the traitor with a cold, devout fervor.
A priest (generally the highest ranking one in the
area) may call the Wild Hunt upon the traitor,
although doing this without the approval l of his
superiors is a grave breech of protocol and subject
to harsh punishment. All loyal Sabbat in the area
must hunt down the traitor and anyone who may have
received his stolen knowledge. All captured parties
are interrogated and killed until it is certain that
all have been identified and neutralized. The
traitor himself is returned to face torture before
destruction. His crimes are recited aloud and he is
compelled through painful force to extract a
confession of sin, and then is tortured extensively.
In the end, the traitor's former packmates throw the
wretch upon a consecrated pyre. An attending priest
recites the Chronicle of Caine from the Book of Nod
to remind all assembled that victory requires trust
and unity.
The Wild Hunt always begins with a Vaulderie to
reinforce loyalty and unity, often accompanied by a
Fire Dance. For lesser offenses, the ignoblis
rite of Contrition may be performed to grant the
traitor redemption.
The Sabbat, The Camarilla, and the Anarchs are fictional sects of vampires,
from White Wolf Game Studio's Vampire: The Masquerade books and role-playing games.
